AFCON 2025 Trophy Tour, Lagos
- TotalEnergies Nigeria
- Brand Experience · Experiential Tour · Cultural Activation
- 2025
“We turned a trophy into a cultural procession, and a corporate sponsor into a community hero.”
Sponsorship of African football is easy to own on paper. It is harder to own in the street. TotalEnergies is the official partner of CAF and a major sponsor of AFCON 2025, but brand association on broadcast is not the same as brand love on the ground. The challenge was to make that partnership feel real to everyday Nigerians, not just football insiders.
The AFCON Trophy is not just silverware. It is a symbol of African football’s highest aspiration. For most fans, it is something they will never get within touching distance of. Making the trophy accessible, literal and physical, in their neighbourhoods, at their filling stations, in their communities, would transform TotalEnergies’ sponsorship from a corporate claim into a shared cultural moment.
A two-day, multi-touchpoint experiential trophy tour across Lagos, designed to move the AFCON Trophy from the boardroom to the street, from the press conference to the fan park, from VIP hospitality to the everyday customer forecourt.
Day one: press conference at TotalEnergies HQ, high-visibility Lagos Island cavalcade with FRSC escort and branded trophy truck, filling station activation in Ikeja, and a large-scale public fan park at Marcelina’s Event Centre featuring the trophy photo experience, Panacage football arena, PlayStation gaming, AFCON History Tunnel, and partner activations. Day two: exclusive staff viewing at TotalEnergies HQ, then a VVIP cocktail experience on the 10th floor with cultural performances and premium hospitality. Every touchpoint woven into one coherent brand narrative.
